Notice of AGM February 22nd at 7:30pm
TO ALL MEMBERS OF PRESTBURY LOCAL HISTORY SOCIETY.
The Annual General Meeting of the Society will take place on February 22nd at the W.I. Hall at 7.30pm. The business of the AGM usually only takes about 20 minutes and is then followed by a presentation. In this case our Chairman, Tony Noel, will be sharing with us the research he has been doing into the history of the post in Prestbury.
You are reminded that nominations for the Committee must be in writing, signed by the nominee, and given to the Secretary at least seven days before the meeting. Propositions concerning the affairs of the Society (except amendments to the Constitution – see Constitution Item 13) should, when possible, be notified to the Secretary in advance of the meeting.
The proposed revised version of the constitution is attached to this email. The changes to the existing constitution are clarifications and corrections.
Best wishes
Norman Baker (Secretary)

A wreath was laid by a serving soldier from the Royal Artillery on the grave of Sir Charles Edward Whinyates. Whinyates commanded the rocket corps of the RA, playing a decisive role in the battle. Join us at Prestbury LIBRARY, The Burgage from 7:30pm on Monday April 27th
FOR THE LAUNCH OF OUR FIRST PUBLICATION and a display of our Archive
Prestbury: A Walk Through Time by Roger Beacham
We are very pleased to introduce the first publication under the name of the Prestbury Local History Society. Roger, and Michael Cole who edited and prepared for publication, deserve our congratulations and thanks. The book is meticulously researched and presented. A map is included and plenty of well chosen photographs.
The walk is just over a mile and takes one from the Library, through Seven Posts Alley, Prestbury Road, Deep Street, High Street, Southam Road, Mill Street and The Burgage. Roger provides a historical background to the village and some of the characters who figure in the story and then a history of all the significant buildings on the route and some of the people who have lived in them.
At £2 per copy it is extremely good value and I suspect that we will find that our first order is insufficient to meet demand.

There will be a talk about The Women’s Institute in Prestbury by Val Porter. We will also be holding our AGM.
