A commemoration was held this morning at 11 am in St mary’s churchyard to mark 200 years since the Battle of Waterloo. A wreath was laid by a serving soldier from the Royal Artillery on the grave of Sir Charles Edward Whinyates. Whinyates commanded the rocket corps of the RA, playing a decisive role in the battle.
